When you get our business started, changes are it won't instantly well known,
at least without some marketing. A business that is just starting up however,
doesn't necessarily have the funds to, say, put an advertisement on during the
super bowl. There are however, many ways that do not require much money, and
many that do not require any.
The first and foremost is to have a good name. Depending on the industry
this might be a type of pun, or a quirky word that makes people what to figure
out what it means. It is also a good idea to see whether that title is
not already a domain name because nowadays the internet is the number one marketing
strategy for almost every industry. Once you have a good website there
are cheap advertising programs from companies like Google and yahoo that target
a certain market.
Although the web is a great mast marketing strategy, a means to get the word
out, for most companies there are more productive ways to keep your clients coming
back time after time. Making connections, or even better meaningful friendships,
with as many people as possible will increase those who are working to get the
word out. Staging a "grand opening" that has food, events, and
speakers is a great way to get people to come learn what your company is.
Finally, always be trying to think up innovative was of marketing that no one
else has tried. People will get interested in your company because they
were intrigued by the way you presented yourself as much as by the content of
the presentation.
